up next

this weekend i'll finally be digging into this. i have little other plans besides it, lunch with a girlfriend, and a date with my laundry basket.. just the way i prefer my weekends- without itinerary. Just Kids is the poignant memoir by patti smith (singer-songwriter/rebel/godmother of NY punk) about her lifelong relationship with robert maplethorpe-- a lifelong love, bond, and friendship that continued thru robert recognizing his homosexuality and until his death from AIDS in 1989.  This was an amazon recommend, and it was the title that grabbed me.. the very same one i'd given something i have been writing in my head for months during car rides and quiet moments, but have yet to stomach on paper. Damn you patti for stealing my idea.

her writing: lyrical, poetic, delicious.
the story: heartbreaking and gorgeous.
my plan: tissues handy, wine chilled.

cheers to you weekend, cheers.
what are your plans (or lack thereof), friends?
